Although a small company, it
appears that Sea West Enterprises, Inc. has carved out a niche market
in the "high altitude-high tech" construction arena where they are fast
becoming the company of choice for many scientific and communication
projects around the country.
Sea West Enterprises, Inc. was
involved in the development of the CHARA Array from the moment
the first shovel struck the mountain. Initially, brought into the
project as the prime contractor, Sea West quickly took over major
portions of the design
engineering elements of the project. This included the concept,
design
and installation of the six "robotic" looking telescope enclosures
airlifted
to their mountain top homes last January.
Eric Simison, CEO of Sea
West said, "The success of this project has been the result of Dr. Hal
McAlister's creative thought, dedication, and determination and that of
his science team members Dr. Stephen Ridgway, Dr. Theo tenBrummelaar,
Dr. Nils Turner and Dr. Laszlo Sturmann. Bob Cadman and the other CHARA
staff members have been invaluable in providing guidance and
information throughout the life of this project."
"In creating a functional array, CHARA
and Sea West have proven to be a winning team. I am very proud to be
associated with the CHARA Array project".
Currently, Sea West is under
contract to American Tower Corporation to construct mountain top
telecommunication facilities at several western state locations and
have recently completed first phase engineering studies for a telescope
to be installed by the United Kingdom on the island of Maui. Science
based projects on mountain top locations in New Mexico and Texas may
also be on the horizon for this lean, aggressive firm.
Sea West Enterprises, Inc. is a 23
year old privately held
company Head Quartered in San Dimas, California, with offices in
Albuquerque, NM. Sea West specializes in High Altitude / High Tech building solutions
for scientific and communication applications.

On January 22nd, Erickson Air-Crane
Company will team up with Sea West Enterprises, Inc. in San Dimas,
California
to airlift six state of the art telescope enclosures at the Mount
Wilson
Observatory in Southern California. The operation is part of a
multi
year project being conducted by Georgia State University with matching
funds from the National Science Foundation.
The seven ton, 28-foot tall
structures were designed and built for Georgia State University by Eric
Simison, President of Sea West Enterprises, Inc., as part of a
new generation optical array. Each of the computer controlled
enclosures
complete with domes will be installed at remote sites around the
historical
observatory.
The unique design of these
structures affords not only operational advantages to the astronomers
but also a minimal amount of environmental impact to mountain
terrain. As a compliment to the installation Erickson Air-Crane
services further reduce the amount of manpower and equipment required
at each of the mountain top locations.
