Based upon our competitive bid,
Sea West was awarded the contract for First Phase construction of the
CHARA Array atop Mt. Wilson in California.
With construction project direction by
CEO, Eric Simison, the Sea West team successfully negotiated with
regulatory agencies, designed and engineered critical telescope housing
components, invented animation systems and fabricated and installed
enclosures for the six telescopes in the interferometric CHARA
Array.
Moving
the
six pre-fabricated seven-ton enclosures to their mountain top
foundations inspired yet another creative solution. Sea West devised
and implemented a heavy airlift operations plan that achieved several
objectives:
- Minimizing the
impact on the local terrain and forest growth.
- Eliminating the
requirement for remote site staging of heavy transport and high lift
ground based equipment.
- Reducing the
overall timeline for this phase of the project.
